The Visitor.

Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the house
every creature was stirring, except for the Decon-ed mouse.

The decorations were scattered all over...but with care.

I mean, that's just what happens when 3 kids live here.

The children were nestled all snug on the couch,

watching Sunday afternoon football and trying not to grouch.

And Momma in her yoga pants, washing dishes in the sink

looked over at Daddy and said...should we drink??

When out on the street there arose such a clatter,

Sawyer sprang from Da Bears game to see what was the matter.

Away to the window he flew like a flash

Jumped over the Matchbox cars so he would not crash.

The nice sunny day made it easy to see

that someone had just pulled up in a convertible red Audi.

When, what to our wondering eyes should appear,

but Santa...and an elf?? And no, we weren't drinking beer.

What the heck was he doing in our neighborhood?

Perhaps just stopping in...to see if the children were good?

He knocked on our door...so we let him right in!

We couldn't believe it was Santa...yes, it really was him!

He talked to the boys while they sat on his lap

They told him all the things they were hoping to unwrap.

Finley, on the other hand, was not as impressed

She hid in another chair...looking a little bit stressed.

After a short visit, he continued on his way.

He told the kids to be good and he'd come back in a few days.

And we heard him exclaim as he drove down the street,

"Merry Christmas to all! I'll be back in a week!!"
